Tonight's show will feature more music by Mohammed Fairouz - this time inspired by Art Spiegelman's "In the Shadow of No Towers," a graphic novel written as a response to 9/11 so many years ago. This work is still relevant today, however, as we look at the division of politics, belief systems, and the growing gap between the differing moral values we see in the world.
To take a look at Fairouz's inspiration and what the piece is based on, you can look at the link on his website here.
The show tonight, though featuring a politicized work, won't be a political statement. Instead, I hope to treat you to a little bit of calm in this storm we've called 2017. Exploring the nature of pairing and the sound of "twos", whether it be through Marjan Mozetich's love song to swans in flight, or through the transcendental sound of Pärt's "Spiegel Im Spiegel," the group of two can be a relationship, a dependancy, and a division.
